"A Sidekick's Journey" is the second tale in what somebody somewhere is calling The Sidekick Chronicles, and is considerably longer than the first story, which I wrote in 2005. This one takes place a few weeks after the first story, and continues to chronicle young Benny Parks in Trueno, Arizona, where he was left after the death of his mentor. Though there are challenges in his life, it looks as though Ben may get a second chance.
It was a pleasure to get a chance to visit Ben again, and flesh out his world a bit. If it's a pleasure to read as well, we may check in on him again before ten more years go by. I'll try to come up with something.

You're on this blog which means that you're a fan of Rish. If you're a fan of Rish you know he does good voice work. So getting the audio version of this should be a no-brainer.
There are nuances to certain scenes in this book that are illustrated better with voice than straight from the text, at least in this reviewer's opinion. I laughed out loud a few times listening to this story, and I think it's a combination of delivery and the context of the different voices used that amplify the humor. I don't think I would have reacted the same way with text (I don't laugh easy).
And of course the same is true for the dramatic scenes, if not moreso. Trust me, there are some moments in the latter part of the book that you'll want to hear performed, the way Rish performs when he reads.
In short, get the audible version!
I loved the audiobook! This wasn't just a sequel - this was a further journey of a great character that is finding out who he is, what he values, and why. I love that sometimes he is treated like a kid, sometimes an adult. He does the best he can to respond the best he can. I want many more stories
